Japan's 'convict' monkey stages daring cage break


Officials in Mishima City said the monkey slipped out of the government-run nature park it had been kept at since its capture last October when a keeper was cleaning its cage.

Mother killed her daughter by pushing her into a river, she then strangled a young boy..


A woman convicted of killing her daughter and a neighborhood boy in Akita Prefecture in 2006 showed a desire to appeal her life imprisonment sentence to the Supreme Court in a Wednesday meeting with her defense lawyers, despite their plan to give up doing so, they said.

Prosecutors have already decided not to appeal the sentence to seek the death penalty for 36-year-old Suzuka Hatakeyama, who was convicted of the deaths of her 9-year-old daughter Ayaka and 7-year-old Goken Yoneyama..

Was Japanese Commercial Racist Towards Barack Obama?

A controversy in recent days has been raging with expats in Japan over whether a commercial by a Japanese cell phone provider E-mobile, is a racial slur towards US Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama.

The commercial in question shows the company’s mascot, a monkey doing a parody of Barack Obama’s campaign stump speech about “change”.
