Quality 'Star' material - Zac Efron?

I dunno about all that. But in the new September issue of Elle magazine there is a feature article, and great pics, of the cast from Disney's "High School Musical" fame. Its also a great read. By the way, 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' hits the screens big time on October 22. We also thought that 'Hairspray' was a great film!

The Elle article also points out that several magazines, including Elle, feel that Zac Efron is quality 'Star' material. Were not so sure about that. Zac also compares himself in a way to Leaonardo DiCaprio. Even though Zac is a good actor, he may not reach the heights of 'great' actors. We'll just have to wait and see.

Check out 'elle' magazine.

Season 2: "Gossip Girl"

First Look: 'Gossip Girl' Season 2

Just a few more weeks until the Sept. 1 return of "Gossip Girl." What can we expect our favorite online gossip columnist to divulge in her summer report? Here's our best guesses based on these sneak-peak shots from the premiere.

...Dan had broken up with Serena for lying and keeping things from him, you know, like the fact that she may have killed someone. In the first season finale, she found solace in Nate, who had inexplicably also ended his budding romance with Vanessa. What have they been doing for the summer? (Besides attending white-on-white formals.) Hopefully, no old feelings have been reignited -- we're looking at you, Nate.

Now that Vanessa is out of the picture, who didn't see this one was coming: A beautiful older woman (played by Madchen Amick) is going to set her sights on the newly single Nate. Will she seduce him? Has she already? This story is sort of a soapy teen drama staple, isn't it? Remember Pacey and Ms. Jacobs? At least we know how it will (probably) end.

When Chuck stood up Blair last season, leaving her stranded at the airport (for Lydia Hearst, no less), we knew he'd regret it. Here's why: He's about to get some healthy competition from Marcus (played by new cast member Patrick Heusinger). Seems like some summer lovin' ensued in Italy while Blair was away. Best get movin' Mr. Bass.

The Destructive Phase of Obsessive Love.

What is 'Obsessive Love'?

Obsessive love is a form of love where one person is emotionally obsessed with another.

Moore, Forward and Buck believe that rejection is the trigger of obsessive love - also known as love addiction or relationship addiction. They state four conditions to help identify it, namely, a painful and all-consuming preoccupation with a real or wished-for lover, an insatiable longing either to possess or be possessed by the target of their obsession, rejection by or physical and/or emotional unavailability of their target, and being driven to behave in self-defeating ways by this rejection or unavailability.

Two characteristics indicative of obsessive love are:

1. Obsessive lovers believe that only the person they fixate on can make them feel happy and fulfilled.

2. Persons close to the love-obsessed can also be greatly affected. Witnessing a friend or family member suffer from the disorder can be distressing.

Destructive phase of "Obsessive Love"

This is the final phase of Obsessive Relational Progression. It represents the destruction of the relationship, due to phase three behaviors, which have caused a love interest to understandably flee. For a variety of reasons, this is considered the most dangerous of the four phases, because the RD person suddenly plummets into a deep depression due to the collapse of the relationship. Here are some of the more common behaviors that are exhibited during phase four of ORP:

1. Overwhelming feelings of depression (feeling "empty" inside).
2. A sudden loss of self-esteem, due to the collapse of the relationship.
3. Extreme feelings of self-blame and at times, self-hatred.
4. Anger, rage and a desire to seek revenge against a love interest for breaking off the relationship.
5. Denial that the relationship has ended and attempting to "win a loved one back" by making promises to "change".
6. The use of drugs, alcohol, food or sex to "medicate" the emotional pain.

The Brutal Murder of Gay Hollywood Leading Man, Ramon Novarro.

Back in the 1920’s women around the World were madly in love with Hollywoods’ leading screen idol, Italian 'latin lover' Rudolph Valentino.
Enter Mexican actor Ramon Novarro, from Durango Mexico who moved to the Los Angeles area with his family in the early 1900‘s. Ramon had starred in bit parts back in 1917 and was also known to be working as a singing waiter.

At the time, well known Hollywood director Rex Ingram saw Ramon and tried to promote Novarro as a rival to Rudy Valentino.

In 1923 Novarro landed leading Hollywood silent film roles such as in the film ‘Scaramouche’.

It was in 1925 that he achieved huge success as a serious actor in the movie ‘Ben Hur‘. When Valentino died suddenly in 1926, Novarro was ‘promoted’ and became one of Hollywoods’ new leading men.

Novarro began playing roles like that of the mysterious ‘latin lover’, he also enjoyed success in ‘swashbuckler’ roles, as well as playing other romantic leads. He was known as having been one of the best leading actors of his day.

His first ‘talkie’ was in 1929 in the role of a singer in ‘Devil May Care’.

He then appeared with the great Greta Garbo in ‘Mata Hari’ in 1932, and also with Hollywood legend Myrna Loy in ‘Barbarian’ in 1933. But then Novarro’s star began to fade. And in 1935, MGM decided not to renew his contract.

In the 1940’s Novarro played in a few more lead roles, but nothing like the roles at the height of his success. In the early 1960’s he tried his hand at a Broadway play that soon failed.

Also in the 60’s he appeared on several well know TV shows including the successful TV series ‘The High Chaparral‘.

The peak of Novarro’s success came between the 1920’s and 1930’s. He was reportedly paid $100,000 or more per picture.

Having made a few wise investments’ at the height of his career, it now allowed him to live a very comfortable lifestyle.

But also at the height of his success it is believed that MGM studio boss Louis B. Mayer tried to get Novarro to marry a female actress in a lavender marriage, in order to ward off leaking press that Novarro was a homosexual. Ramon had refused and that also lead to his contract being cancelled.

According to police reports, in October of 1968 Novarro picked up two male hustlers. The hustlers were brothers Tom and Paul Ferguson. Novarro had paid them to come to his home in Laurel Canyon.

It is believed that Novarro may have stated who he was and mentioned money to the Fergusons’.

According to reports, the two brothers believed that Novarro had large sums of cash hidden in the house. The brothers then tortured Novarro for several hours in an attempt to get him to disclose where the cash was hidden. They beat Novarro severely and left with only $20.

Novarro died from the brutal beating and torture and his cause of death was listed as asphyxiation. He died October 30, 1968 at age 69.

Tom and Paul Ferguson were later caught and both served prison sentences‘. They were later released, and are now back in prison serving longer sentences for various other crimes.

Ramón Novarro’s star is located on the ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame’. The star is located at 6350 Hollywood Boulevard.

Why you hate Celebrities, and some of your Friends.

What is the real definition of 'Jealousy'? or 'Envy'?

Whether most of it us admit it or not, we get jealous and suffer from envy. And when we see people who have what we may want, we can get very jealous or extremely envious. Now the first group of people we take this out on, beside some of our friends, are celebrities. Thats right - celebrities. Boy do they live the 'good' life and beyound. And alot of us wish we did. But we dont. And we probably never will. And since jealousy and envy are around, lets just use that on them damn 'celebrities'. (of course now, if you were to be a celebrity you'd be glad others were both jealous and envious of you.)

Now, lets take a close look at the word 'jealousy' and the word 'envy':

1: Jealousy typically refers to the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, that occur when a person believes a valued relationship is being threatened by a rival. This rival may or may not know that he or she is perceived as a threat.

2: The word "jealousy" is frequently used to describe what is more properly envy, fixation on what someone else has. Envy and jealousy are distinct in their object (Goldie, 2000, p. 221). Jealousy concerns something one has and is afraid of losing, while envy concerns something one does not have and either he wants to acquire (nonmalicious envy) or he wants the other(s) not to have (malicious envy) (Parrot, 2001, p. 309).

I guess we all need some help.

WOMEN ONLY: How To Have A Real Multiple Orgasm.

While some Women, and Men may have a fake orgasm, most people settle for the real deal.

Once again, our reliable secret source tells us that the female body can achieve orgasm from stimulation of the clitoris and from stimulation of the G-spot. The Gräfenberg spot, or G-spot, is a small area behind the female pubic bone surrounding the urethra and accessible through the anterior wall of the vagina. Many scientists believe that only certain women possess a G-spot.

The G-spot orgasm is sometimes referred to as "vaginal," because it results from stimulation inside the vagina, including during sexual intercourse. However, only stimulation of the G-spot, and not other intravaginal stimulation, results in a "vaginal orgasm."

The "two-orgasm theory" (the belief that in women there is a vaginal orgasm and a clitoral orgasm), has been criticized by feminists such as Ellen Ross and Rayna Rapp as a "transparently male perception of the female body".

The concept of purely vaginal orgasm was first postulated by Sigmund Freud. In 1905, Freud argued that clitoral orgasm was an adolescent phenomenon, and upon reaching puberty the proper response of mature women changes to vaginal orgasms. While Freud provided no evidence for this basic assumption, the consequences of the theory were greatly elaborated, partly because many women felt inadequate when they could not achieve orgasm via vaginal intercourse that involved little or no clitoral stimulation.

In 1966, Masters and Johnson published pivotal research about the phases of sexual stimulation. Their work included women and men, and unlike Alfred Kinsey earlier (in 1948 and 1953), tried to determine the physiological stages before and after orgasm.

One of the results was the promotion of the idea that vaginal and clitoral orgasms follow the same stages of physical response. Masters and Johnson also argued that clitoral stimulation is the primary source of orgasms.

Recent discoveries about the size of the clitoris - it extends inside the body, around the vagina - complicate or may invalidate attempts to distinguish clitoral vs. vaginal orgasms. Recent anatomical research shows that there are nerves connecting intravaginal tissues and the clitoris.

This, with the anatomical evidence that the internal part of the clitoris is a much larger organ than previously thought, could explain credible reports of orgasms in women who have undergone clitorectomy as part of female circumcision.

The link between the clitoris and the vagina is evidence that the clitoris is the 'seat' of the female orgasm and is far more wide-spread than the visible part most people associate with it. But it is possible that some women have more extensive clitoral tissues and nerves than others, and so that some women can achieve orgasm only by direct stimulation of the external part of the clitoris.

Multiple orgasms anyone?

In some cases, women either do not have a refractory period or have a very short one and thus can experience a second orgasm, and perhaps further ones, soon after the first. After the first, subsequent climaxes may be stronger or more pleasurable as the stimulation accumulates. For some women, their clitoris and nipples are very sensitive after climax, making additional stimulation initially painful.

There are sensational reports of women having too many orgasms, including an unauthenticated claim that a young British woman has them constantly throughout the day, whenever she experiences the slightest vibration.

MEN ONLY: How To Achieve Multiple Orgasms.

Smiley According to our secret sources, it is possible for a man to have an orgasm without ejaculation (dry orgasm) or to ejaculate without reaching orgasm. Some men have reported having multiple consecutive orgasms, particularly without ejaculation. Males who experience dry orgasms can often produce multiple orgasms, as the refractory period, is reduced.

Some males are able to masturbate for hours at a time, achieving orgasm many times. In recent years, a number of books have described various techniques to achieve multiple orgasms. Most multi-orgasmic men (and their partners) report that refraining from ejaculation results in a far more energetic post-orgasm state.

Additionally, some men have also reported that this can produce more powerful ejaculatory orgasms when they choose to have them.

Smiley Men - What you SHOULD NOT DO.

One dangerous technique is to put pressure on the perineum, about halfway between the scrotum and the anus, just before ejaculating to prevent ejaculation. This can, however, lead to retrogarde ejaculation, i.e. redirecting semen into the urinary bladder rather than through the uretha to the outside.

It may also cause long term damage due to the pressure put on the nerves and blood vessels in the perineum. Men who have had prostate or bladder surgery, for whatever reason, may also experience dry orgasms because of retrograde ejaculation.

Are you positive you dont have a STD?

With the CDC (center for disease control)disclosing recently how wrong they were about the amount of new cases of HIV infection, (they found they were wrong an astounding 40%!), are you positive that you dont have a Sexually Transmitted Disease?

Heres' how our good friends at wikipedia describe "STD"s:

"...A sexually transmitted disease (STD) or venereal disease (VD), is an illness that has a significant probability of transmission between humans or animals by means of sexual contact, including vaginal intercourse, oral sex, and anal sex. Increasingly, the term sexually transmitted infection (STI) is used, as it has a broader range of meaning; a person may be infected, and may potentially infect others, without showing signs of disease. Some STIs can also be transmitted via use of an IV drug needle after its use by an infected person, as well as through childbirth or breastfeeding. Sexually transmitted infections have been well known for hundreds of years.

You SHOULD read more about: Sexually Transmitted Diseases'.

Is 'Adultery' in the Military a Crime?

(another interesting article: Is Cheating A Mental Disorder?)

With all the talk going around about a certain politcal candidates' adultery, lets take minute and look at this: Adultery In The Military.

According to a report by Rod Powers, who had 23 years in the military, Rod says he gets angry emails from wives' who are upset because they perceive that the military did nothing about their way-ward husband's wicked ways, or they are angry because the military did not punish their husbands' for cheating on them.

So...what does the military do?

According to Rod, you may be surprised to learn that adultery is not listed as an offense in the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). The UCMJ is a federal law, enacted by Congress, to govern legal discipline and court martials for members of the armed forces. Articles 77 through 134 of the UCMJ encompasses the "punitive offenses" (these are crimes one can be prosecuted for). None of those articles specifically mentions adultery.

Rod says that the 'offense' is actually prosecuted under Article 134, which is also known as the "General Article." Article 134 simply prohibits conduct which is of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces, or conduct which is prejudicial to good order and discipline. Adultery.

Barbara La Marr - The Girl Too Beautiful To Live.

Barbara La Marr was an actress who made over 30 films and is believed to be one of the first to die a drug related death at age 29, in 1926.

Barbara was born in Yakima Washington in 1896. She was known to be 'dramatic' at an early age. Herc family moved to Fresno Ca in 1910. She married at the age of 17.

Her and her husband moved to New York City, where Barbara found work writing screenplays. This lead to her later returning to the Los Angelesa area. She made her first film in 1920. During the next several years she appeared frequently in films, and became publicised as "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World". With that slogan, she rapidly shot to stardom.

Barbara had made a successful jump from writer to actress when she appeared in Douglas Fairbanks' "The Nut" (1921). She appeared in over 30 films, and had written seven successful screenplays for United Artists and Fox studios. La Marr's films also included "The Prisoner of Zenda" and "Trifling Women," both released in 1922.

While her film career began to flourish, she also embraced the ultra fast-paced Hollywood lifestyle. She was known to have made the remark that 'she slept no more than two hours a night', as she felt with all her film work, life was too short to waste on sleep.

During those years living in the Hollywood fastlane she also became addicted to heroin. Her addiction, combined with her non-stop social life and grueling film work, began to take its toll on her health.

In January 1926, La Marr died suddenly from tuberculosis and nephritis in Altadena, California. She was interred in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Newspapers at that time referred to her as "The Girl Too Beautiful To Live". "The Girl Who Was Too Beautiful", was a slight variation on the film title that had been closely associated with her.

La Marr had been married five times.

Hollywoods First Chinese American Movie Star - 'Anna May Wong'

Anna May Wong (January 3, 1905 – February 2, 1961) was the first Chinese American movie star to become an international star. Wong was a success in both film, television, stage, and radio.

She was born on January 3, 1905 near Los Angeles's Chinatown. Wong loved the movies and was fascinated with film and began acting at an early age.

She appeared in several well known hollywood silent era films including "The Toll of the Sea" (around 1922), she appeared with Douglas Fairbanks' in "The Thief of Bagdad" (1924) and in Piccadilly (a round 1929).

Wong became frustrated with the stereotypical supporting roles she had been given by Hollywood, and she left to Europe in the late 1920s, where she began starring in several films and plays there.

Wong gained an image as an international fashion icon, and by 1924 she had achieved international stardom. Wong spent the 1930s moving from United States and Europe seeking out more film and stage work. She was again featured in "Daughter of the Dragon" (1931) and "Daughter of Shanghai" (around 1937), and she then appeared with Marlene Dietrich in Josef von Sternberg's "Shanghai Express" in 1932.

The biggest insult may have come to Anna May when in 1935, the major Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, refused to even consider Wong for the leading role in its film version of "The Good Earth". Instead MGM choose German actress Luise Rainer to play the leading role in "yellowface"(makeup). Unfortunately for years after her death, Anna May would be remembered for her stereotypical "Dragon Lady" and her demure "Butterfly" roles that she had been given.

Wong has since become more respected for being the success that she was at the time in Hollywoods 'silent era".

Anna May Wong died at the age of 56 on February 3, 1961, of a heart attack at her home in Santa Monica. Anna May had been planning to return to film in the upcoming movie "Flower Drum Song" when she died. Her legancy will never be forgotten.

Her 'Star' is on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Its located at 1708 Vine Street.

Sarcoidosis: What is it and can we prevent it?

(Bernard Jeffrey McCullough 'Bernie Mac' 1957-2008)

What is 'Sarcoidosis' and can we prevent it?

One of Hollywoods best known comedians and actors, Bernie Mac died early today. Mr. Mac had suffered from Sarcoidosis for years(the cause of this disease is still unknown.)Reports stated that he had died from complications of pneumonia.

But Sarcoidosis, like pneumonia, is a disease that also effects the 'lungs' and may have been a contributing factor in his death.

WHAT IS SARCOIDOSIS?

Sarcoidosis is an immune system disorder characterized by non-caseating granulomas (small inflammatory nodules) that most commonly arises in young adults. The cause of the disease is still unknown. Virtually any organ can be affected; however, granulomas most often appear in the lungs or the lymph nodes. Symptoms can occasionally appear suddenly but usually appear gradually. The clinical course generally varies and ranges from asymptomatic disease to a debilitating chronic condition that may lead to death.

Sarcoidosis is also know to most commonly affect younger adults in both sexes, with women beening reported by most studies. The incidence of the disease is highest for people younger than 40 and continues up in the age-group from 20 to 29 years. Another peak in the disease is seen in women over 50.

The disease is thought to be most prevalent in Northern European countries, and the highest annual incidence of 60 per 100,000 is found in Sweden and Iceland. In the United States, sarcoidosis is more common in people of African descent than Caucasians, with annual incidence reported as 35.5 and 10.9 per 100,000, respectively. Sarcoidosis is less commonly reported in South America, Spain and India.

The differing incidence across the world may be at least partially attributable to the lack of screening programs in certain regions of the world and the overshadowing presence of other granulomatous diseases such as tuberculosis, that may interfere with the diagnosis of sarcoidosis where they are prevalent.

There may also be racial differences in the severity of the disease. Several studies suggest that the presentation in people of African origin may be more severe and disseminated than for Caucasians, who are more likely to have asymptomatic disease.

The disease appears to affect each race differently. According to race and gender, erythema nodosum is far more common in men than women and Caucasians than other races. In Japanese opthalmologic and cardiac involvement is more common than in other races.

Signs and symptoms

Sarcoidosis is know to affect any organ in the body. Common symptoms are vague, such as fatigue unchanged by sleep, lack of energy, weight loss, aches and pains, arthralgia, dry eyes, blurry vision, shortness of breath, a dry hacking cough or skin lesions. The cutaneous symptoms vary, and range from rashes and noduli (small bumps) to erythema nodosum or lupus pernio. It is often asymptomatic.

The combination of erythema nodosum, bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy and arthralgia is called Löfgren syndrome. This syndrome has a relatively good prognosis.

Renal, liver (including portal hypertension), heart or brain involvement may cause further symptoms and altered functioning. Manifestations in the eye include uveitis, uveoparotitis, and retinal inflammation, which may result in loss of visual acuity or blindness. Sarcoidosis affecting the brain or nerves is known as neurosarcoidosis.

The combination of anterior uveitis, parotitis and fever is called uveoparotitis, and is associated with Heerfordt-Waldenstrom syndrome.

WHAT IS PNEUMONIA?

Pneumonia is an inflammatory illness of the lung.[1] Frequently, it is described as lung parenchyma/alveolar inflammation and abnormal alveolar filling with fluid. The alveoli are microscopic air-filled sacs in the lungs responsible for absorbing oxygen from the atmosphere. Pneumonia can result from a variety of causes, including infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites, and chemical or physical injury to the lungs. Its cause may also be officially described as idiopathic—that is, unknown—when infectious causes have been excluded.

Typical symptoms associated with pneumonia include cough, chest pain, fever, and difficulty in breathing. Diagnostic tools include x-rays and examination of the sputum. Treatment depends on the cause of pneumonia; bacterial pneumonia is treated with antibiotics.

Pneumonia is a common illness which occurs in all age groups, and is a leading cause of death among the elderly and people who are chronically and terminally ill. Vaccines to prevent certain types of pneumonia are available. The prognosis depends on the type of pneumonia, the appropriate treatment, any complications, and the person's underlying health.
